Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town situated in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually the West Island includes everything westward from Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She initially wanted to be an actor, However, following a dramatic growth spurt her partners could no longer dance with her. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. Brugel was one of many former dancers who shifted into acting. The teacher she had at high school encouraged her in the right direction. It was the teacher who recommended she pursue a role for the annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the lead actress for Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian of the Season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
